Authorities have released the name of the woman who was struck and killed by an\u00a0Amtrak<\/span><\/a>\u00a0passenger train on Saturday afternoon in Montecito.<\/span><\/p>\n

Elaine Enick, 62, of Montecito was fatally injured when she was hit by the northbound Pacific Surfliner at about 3:20 p.m. in the area of Butterfly Lane, said Kelly Hoover, a spokeswoman for the\u00a0Santa Barbara County Sheriff\u2019s Department<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

The conductor of the northbound\u00a0Pacific Surfliner<\/span><\/a>\u00a0told investigators that Enick was walking along the side of the tracks, and the train\u2019s horn was sounded to warn her.<\/span><\/p>\n

Moments later, she stepped onto the tracks and was struck and fatally injured, according to the Sheriff\u2019s Department.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe sheriff\u2019s Coroner\u2019s Office is conducting an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident,\u201d Hoover said.<\/span><\/p>\n
